Who We Are:
ISC Manufacturing is a bulk material handling OEM and Engineer to Order Metal Fabrication Company with a fast-paced, growing manufacturing team looking for a hands-on CNC Programmer/Machinist who can bridge the gap between engineering, programming, and the shop floor. We’ve had no shortage of machine operators, but what we’re missing is someone who truly understands how and why parts are made and can lead the shop toward better efficiency, organization, and consistency.
If you enjoy programming, improving processes, and being on the floor making parts, this role may be a great fit.
The Role:
This is a hybrid position that combines CNC programming, machining, and shop leadership.
Our workload does not always support a full-time, office-only programmer, so this role is ideal for someone who:
- Enjoys programming and process development
- Enjoys operating mills and lathes and making parts
- Takes pride in owning the success of the machine shop
- Enjoys mentoring others
- Enjoys problem-solving
- Loves new challenges and something different every day.
You will be a key technical leader helping us move from “getting parts done” to doing them efficiently, repeatably, and correctly.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and modify CNC programs for 2-axis lathes and 4-axis mills
- Develop and edit 3D models and manufacturing workflows using Autodesk Inventor
- Program and set up jobs (CAM software experience beyond Inventor considered)
- Lead and support shop floor machining operations
- Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize cycle times, fixturing, and tooling
- Help organize and streamline shop layout, job flow, and processes
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety, and efficiency
- Work directly with operators to support setups and improve repeatability
- Step in to operate machines as the workload requires
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience with 2- 4-axis machining
- Solid 3D modeling experience (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
- CAM programming experience (Inventor CAM or Fusion 360 Preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Hands-on machining background (not programmer-only)
- Practical understanding of tooling, fixturing, feeds/speeds, and materials (Steel, stainless, brass, UHMW, aluminum)
- Experience with Haas machines preferred, but not required
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects
- Prior experience in low-volume production shops.
- Fast learner
- ERP / Shop Floor Tracking system (We use Fulcrum)
Preferred (But Not Required)
- Experience leading or mentoring other machinists
- Experience improving shop efficiency, standardization, or workflow
- Familiarity with multiple CAM platforms or machine controls
- Haas or other live tooling lathe programming and operation
- Manual Lathe /Mill operation
What We Are Not Looking For:
- An office-only programmer who does not want to be on the shop floor
- Someone who only knows how to “push the green button.”
- A technician unwilling to help where needed
- Someone who struggles with showing up on time or working a full shift consistently
- Someone who needs constant direction or prefers to be told exactly what to do
- Anyone who doesn’t pay attention to details or believes accuracy isn’t important
- People who avoid responsibility or place blame instead of owning and fixing issues
- Someone unwilling to help outside their primary task when the team needs support
- Anyone looking for repetitive, easy work with little variation
- Someone who dislikes problem-solving or adapting to daily challenges
- Anyone expecting the same work every day (everything we do is custom)
- Someone is set in one way of doing things and not open to learning new approaches or improving processes
General Attributes We Value:
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Takes ownership and pride in the quality of their work
- Safety-focused mindset
- Willing to learn, teach, and continuously improve
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, organized, and accountable
